The Museum Studies Internship Program exposes interns to the inner-workings of a major metropolitan museum, promoting an sensation of careers in the field through experiences not available in almost academic settings. In 2022, stipends are made possible by Lynne and Harold Honickman through The Honickman Foundation, Estate of Danielle Rice, The Women's Committee of the Philadelphia Museum of Art through the bequest of Patty Klutz, The Kathleen C. Sherrerd Internship Endowment Fund, and Kathleen A. Foster.
Internship Format
The Museum Studies Internship Plan runs Mon through Fri, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.thousand. for viii weeks. The internship is made up of 3 parts: one day weekly students volition engage in seminar sessions (see below); iv days weekly students will intern in a specific museum section; and one-60 minutes weekly students will meet in a modest group discussion with their cohort of peers. Interns are placed according to departmental needs that vary from twelvemonth to year. Candidates selected for a Departmental Placement will automatically be admitted into the Museum Studies seminar which may include:
- Presentations and talks with curators, conservators, and educators
- Discussions with top-level administrators
- Conversations with many museum departments
